Peninsul’Art event – 8 June 2014
One of the first events organised by the re-established Twinning Association was the hugely successful T-shirt exhibition, “Peninsul’Art” . The event was held in Camaret sur Mer, our twin town in Brittany, last August. This was a joint ‘twinning event’ and 286 T-shirts were individually painted and decorated by artists from Camaret and St Ives. For one day only this amazing collection of original artworks was displayed in the Breton harbour. A live concert and fireworks display rounded off the day.
This year the responsibility falls on St Ives to stage the exhibition of these T-shirts. It will be a hard act to follow, and we will need all the support from the local community that we can get. Potentially it will be a fantastic community event and great publicity for St Ives.
The event will take place on the afternoon of Sunday the 8th of June. As we do not have the resources that our French friends had with funding and the provision of labour by their town council we will need a lot of enthusiastic, reliable people to participate in the event.
We are holding a meeting at the Arts Club on Wednesday 30 April at 7pm and are asking everybody to come along for a cup of coffee and chat about what’s going on.
