All invited to come and see what the Island Centre can offer you or your group!
OPEN DAY – Thursday 12 February (lunchtime and evening)
Following on from the transfer of the Guildhall in 2013 (leading to a significant increase in use), St Ives Town Council are seeking to secure other community buildings and facilities for the benefit of residents of the St Ives parish.
The Island Centre is currently being considered as a potential community transfer to the town council, to help ensure that future generations of residents and visitors to the town are able to enjoy the use of the facilities.
The Island Centre is a well known but under-used building located in the Downlong area, which has many second / holiday homes and a small resident community. Its position at the heart of one of the busiest tourist areas of the town means that it is ideally located to offer a range of services / uses, catering for the demand from visitors and tourists to compliment any local use.
In order to establish the likely demand for use of the property, the town council are hosting an open day when individuals / groups can visit the premises and express an interest, or just have a look around the Island Centre to see what it can offer.
Representatives from the council will be on hand to answer any questions, and look forward to welcoming people to come and look around.
The open day will be on Thursday 12 February:
- from 12 noon – 2pm;
- and 5pm – 8pm.
Potential uses could include concerts, parties, occasional gallery space, classes, meetings, etc. The Island Centre has a hall (with a stage and equipment), newly refurbished kitchen facilities and meeting rooms – all with level access.
If you are unable to attend then you can still make a separate appointment to view, or register interest with the Town Clerk on tel. 01736 797840 or email
